Learning outdoors with sustainable street furniture

Green classroom on the Kraichbach stream in Hockenheim

As part of the Flood Protection and Ecology Project (HÖP), a “green classroom” was created in Hockenheim – a permanent outdoor learning space directly on the Kraichbach stream. Equipped with Maneva benches and bar tables made of open-pored oak, this natural area has been inviting visitors to teach and learn in green surroundings since 2024. The deliberately simple design of the street furniture promotes a calm atmosphere and blends harmoniously into the redesigned riverbank area. The result is a functional and inspiring educational space in a public area.
